I have two miniature poodle called Secret and Magic. I usually take them to a grooming parlor at a pet shop but they get distressed going there. Magic was so sad last time I left her there. Browsing through my local paper I saw a dog groomer advertising a home service. I thought I would try this out so yesterday Secret got a lovely haircut. The parlor cost £25 per dog plus £3 bus fares, the new groomer that does it at home costs just £19 per dog. Does your dog have to be groomed? If so how to do do this? What breed is your dog?

Those prices you state are cheap compared to where I live, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It costs around $65 here and I think that is just crazy. I pay less to get my hair cut. I think it is highway robbery. I took my Pugsly once to get groomed and I watched to see how she does it and I thought I can do that. And I do. I have never taken him back to get groomed again. I just cut his hair myself. He is a pugapoo, half pug and half puddle. But he has the hair of a terrior so I don't get it. I have the papers on him and bought him at a pet store so I know he doesn't have terrior in him although someone could be lying about it. Anyways, I have to groom him about once every couple months and I don't mind doing it so it isn't a problem. Of course in the winter I let it get longer, don't want the little guy to freeze outside. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Your friend Chris

Oh my... i never thought the dog grooming can be that expensive... the cost is already enough for my one month grocery... i don't have a god... but my mother has two... she has never taken them to a dog groomer... and i don't know if that type of service is available where i live... dogs in my country do not get that much attention...

Two of my three jack russells are short haired so don't require a trim but, my third has fluffy hair and it does need the occasional trim - however he hates the sound of the shears so I give a trim myself with scissors which takes a while longer but worth it! lol

Hi there! I have 2 shih-tzus and I do the grooming stuffs on them. I bought a clipper and watch tv shows on animal planet to get some tips on dog grooming. I am also a member of a kennel club in my country and I get instant tips on how to groom my pets. I've tried my best to learn and now, modesty aside, I can say I can do this as a job. Actually some of my friends want me to service their dogs but I'm afraid they might bite me. But before we use to travel 4 hours to the city just to have them groomed. To lessen the expenses and since during Christmas season I visit my family who lives in the city, thats the only time they can have a haircut. I can only give them a bathe, a brush and have their nails clipped. Thats why I learned how to groom. Now they always look handsome month after month! Ciao!
