Hungry Ghost Festival: Had any otherworld visits yet?

Every 7th month on the Chinese Lunar calendar is the Hungry Ghost Festival. For pagans living in the west, think of it as All Souls' Night, for a complete month. During this month, some Chinese believe that the dead are let out of Hell and allowed to roam on earth. The living pay respect to these spirit by burning offerings and laying out food for them, or risk offending them and get bad luck. While I don't really "see" spirits on holiday, the number of thought forms, trapped memories, denser entities, confused spirits, etc, etc rocket in number, possibly drawn and powered up by local collective believes. Exactly why I keep my other senses shut tight and throw on a cloak for extra measure, so far so good. How about fellow folks who are sensitive to these things, any unwelcome attention so far?

I am a Chinese who is born in Singapore. And I don't celebrate the Hungry Ghost Festival, nor do I believe in it. My mum does celebrate it though! She is a medium (I can't think of any other better word to describe what she does), but I just don't know if it's real or is it pretended. But, nevertheless, my brother and I both respected her religion and what she chose to believe in. Hmm, I had never had the privillege to be able to meet or see these 'friends' during the 7th month of the lunar calendar! What I see most often are the devouts burning the joss papers for their loved ones and for the hungry ghosts. People say I have the 3rd eye, but I am at the level whereby I see the ghosts as a person, and I won't even know that the person I am talking to is actually a ghost! I can't say that I really believed what I heard, as I had never experienced that before, no matter what was claimed. Even if let's say I had seen those things before, I would just think that I am going crazy and is hallucinating stuff. Lol.

Shout out to a fellow Singaporean :D I don't celebrate it either, but having enough hair-raising experiences in the army, I know better then to ignore it. Hmm, I don't see that as people, just "colored fog" (if you know what I mean), so I'm pretty sure when I bump into one LOL. Since I wasn't born with it, I have better control over it and don't normally see them, only when that cold feeling on the back of my neck doesn't go away... Then again, maybe not knowing if they are real is better, not like them were any help with that 8 million dollars TOTO ;)

Hey! Lol, it's rare to find a fellow Singaporean on Mylot! Nice meeting you! I guess that I had never had the privellege to meet one or have those 'hair raising' experience that people are always telling me about. But I hope that I would never have the privillege. Hehe.

I am a little sensitive to some supernatural presence but I haven't seen any ghost lately. LOL! So that could be one of the reasons why I see some food placed outside the door of the office of the building owner where I am now working. I kept on wondering and even asked the guards why there are food outside the door and the guard just tells me that it is some sort of offering. I but see such thing not just once a year but at least 3-4 times a year. Well, that may explain it since the owner of our building is Chinese.

There are some days in the lunar which the offerings would be placed out, not the whole month. But Chinese are a little more cautious around this month, not to talk about taboo subjects, watch where they are stepping, etc. In my country, you can see offerings at roadsides, in front of buildings, etc. At night, some places even put up elegant singing and dancing shows, hold actions, etc to please those who walk upon us :)
