How long do you leave it?

I am taking off for a few days with my 3 sons tomorrow and I still haven't packed. I figured that if I leave it until the very last minute then I won't forget anything. Well that is my theory anyway. I have sometimes packed almost a week before I am due to depart but then have ended up taking things back out of the suitcase because I need it and then forget to put it back in. How long do you leave it to pack before you go away on your holidays?

I'm very quick in this aspect.. i just pack the one day before.. and mostly i take all the things needed. In the event if i miss one or two.. i could still manage without them.

Hello saivenkaat802003 Well if I was just packing for myself I would be just like you but having kids you tend to pack more than you really need because there is nothing worse that not having something that you need when you have got kids! Cheers

Normally I'll do it the day before I leave. And I make a list. That way I don't forget anything plus I won't need anything I already packed. If I do it too long before I would need something I already packed, if I do it the day I'm leaving, i'll forget things too. Have a nice day

Pack? What's that? I am a last minute merchant, but I am good at it. Too many years spent traveling taught me that you don't ned too much. Underwear, a change of trousers, shirts and a good toiletries bag. SOCKS!! Anything else can be bought locally. Remember towels though if you are camping. One bath size each. I'm starting to sound like Good Housekeeping. LOL.

hi humbug25, i'm a bad (or should i say good?) procrastinator. i always wait till the very last minute to pack and stress myself out. and when i'm stressed out i tend to forget stuff. my wife is just like me. she waits till the night before, and on occasion when we need to leave early in the morning she ends up getting only a couple of hours of sleep. we're a great pair, arent we? i think ideally you should get everything packed a day before you leave so there's ample time to add stuff that you might decide to bring at the last moment, and yet it's short enough time so you wouldn't need to get anything back out. wherever you're going, have a wonderful time!

Hi ya aidenw My friend called me the very same thing today because I was messing around in myLot and not getting the packing done. It is almost done now, just to throw the toothbrushes in after we have used them. I do hope we have a wonderful time I am going to visit a friend that I haven't seen in 15 years since I left America and she lives near Blackpool so we should have loads of fun thanks!! Cheers!

I always pack for my holidays during the last week. I make a list of the items that I require well in advance and then start ticking which items i must buy before I depart and which items I already have. Usually I leave minor objects such as toiletries as the last objects to pack.

I am a classic procrastinator. I travel a lot and always leave it until last minute. I try to tell myself that it's because I want to have a good mental list. Take in account weather conditions, method of travel, the list goes on. In truth I think I wait until the last minute because of the rush. I get an adrenaline rush before I travel and I do my best packing on an all-nighter. But then again I'm single, and everything I'm taking goes in a backpack or duffel bag. If you're packing for yourself and 3 boys I would suggest some kind of anti-anxiety med. I hope you have a great trip.
