do you volunteer for any organastion ?.....:-) |

| Me and my daughter volunteer at least two times a week at an animal shelter in the town where we live. We feed and water the animals, walk the dogs, clean out the cats cages, and play with the cats. Then we scoop the poop out of the kennels for the dogs. A dirty job. It is hard not to get attached to the animals because if there not adopted out then, the shelter has to put them down. We got really attached to one dog, or my daughter did, we took him home. His name is Snoopy. The shelters rely mostly on volunteer workers, and donations. We started this so I could get my daughter out of the house. I wanted for her to have something to do. Now we both enjoy it. Even though I really don't care for animals that well. What do you volunteer for?........;-) | | | | | |

| | You are a busy bee, I hope you don't have a job. That's a lot of volunteering. I used to work only 3 days a week. I would spend as much time at school as I could. Our kid are only young once, and when you miss it you can't get it back. You want regret being there for them. My son is 18 and he graduated this year. I got to volunteer at his school for about 5 years. I loved it. HATS OFF TO YOU ! ! !..........:-) | | | |

| | First, I must say a big THANK YOU to you and your daughter for volunteering at your local animal shelter! I'm sure it must be very heartbreaking and very rewarding, at the same time. I'm pretty much housebound, but I do manage to do my part with the animal shelters. I collect old comforters, towels, sheets, etc. from people off of freecycle (the ones that are too stained or ragged to be used on beds anymore), cut them up, and sew them into dog/cat beds. A shelter volunteer comes by whenever I've got a bunch ready to take back. I also save all of the petfood, litter, and OTC pet medication, bleach, etc. coupons I get in the newspaper for them. | | | | | | |

| | You know that's a great idea. I know we don't do that at our shelter. With the blankets. I'll have to recommend that to our director. We mostly use towels for the dogs and puppies to lay on. And the cat use news papers. There is an jail workhouse next door to the shelter. Some of the inmates with charges that are not so bad come over and clean and scrub the shelter every morning. We are not there then. Where we live the inmates have to pay to be in jail. that is a way to earn money. My daughter has a hard time still when we go and a animal is gone. She always asks if Cookie got adopted, or if Fluffy did. It hard when she finds out they were put down. Its sad they have to give them all name. We have someone that is very dedicated in adopting out the animals. People come from all of the neighboring states. So that is existing also.:-) | | | |

| | I think that is wonderful that you and your daughter volunteer for such a worthy cause. I always wanted to volunteer for something, but finding the time is a different story. | | | | | | |

| | I understand how that is also. I sometime don't have the time to go. My daughter makes me fill so guilty. She thinks the animals might not get fed or something. People do work there. Tell her that though. Maybe you you can find something that will interest you...:-) | | | |

| | Something you or anyone can do as a volunteer, that doesn't take a lot of time. You could go buy a small bag of dog food, any kind, or cat food. And drop it off at your local animal shelter. Most of the animal shelters rely solely on donation.....:-( | | | |

| | For the past eight years I've been volunteering at our local food bank. That's the only real organized volunteer work I do but I do volunteer for just about anything that is needed in the community and of course my church. Just this year I've started being the community coordinator for the county wide yard sale. I also like to make sure I'm available and on call for any need that may come up for anyone in the church. I no longer work so I like to do something to feel useful. I think it's great that you and your daughter work with the animal shelter. I couldn't do that...I would end up with a house full of animals and I already have four dogs, each one with a slight medical issue. I have one with a breathing problem, one allergic to fleas, one with a deformed jaw and one with only three legs. I'm a sucker for dogs, it would be hard to see so many with out homes and not add more to my lot. | | | | | | |

| | U really are a busy person. I hope you fill needed. I know people in my church are always needing something. Meals cooked for the sick of something. My husband would kill us if we brought home the animals, otherwise, my daughter would bring them all home. she loves them. We don't have a food bank where we live. I don't think. I might just not know about it because I don't need it.....:-) Thanks..;-) | | | |

| | hi!!! me and my beau are also volunteers..we've been in a rescue group for about 13 years now...we went under lots of trainings and it practically helped us in our day to day lives...i even landed on my current job beacause of the trainings i had in my volunteer group...being a volunteer is never easy..sometimes, when the group runs out of funds, we managed to dig into our own pockets just to get by and to just to make the organization work...right now, we are still hoping that we could find sponsors to get our ambulance back in the track again..(it has been down for a over a year now)..volunteerism gives us a different kind of high..try looking a a good cause to volunteer too and find more meaning to your exixtence.. | | | | | | |

| | Sound like a good thing to volunteer for. Did you think of having fundraisings to get your ambulance running again. I'm not sure if you do that where you live. We do all kind of things in the United States. WE do car washes. Or bake sales. Some photography studios will even do a fund raiser for you. Just am idea. Thanks.......;-) | | | |

| | Nothing right now, but in the past I have volunteered for the Bubel/Aiken foundation, which is an organization that mainstreams special needs kids in to regular schools and summer camps so that they can interact with non special needs children. | | | | | | |

| | That is great. I have a nephew that is special needs. And a brother. If they had someone like you growing up it would have helped. My brother grew up in the school system many years ago and kids were tossed a side then. It is sad. I think it may be better now..........;-) | | | |
