"BEIJING (AP)—A group of American Christians who had more than 300 Bibles confiscated by Chinese officials when they arrived in China is refusing to leave the airport until they get the books back, their leader said Monday. ...Last year, false media reports claimed Bibles would be banned from the Olympic Games. The state-run China Daily reported last month that 10,000 bilingual copies of the Bible would be distributed in the Olympic Village, which houses athletes and media. In China, Bibles are legally printed at just one plant—the world’s largest — run by a Communist government-backed Christian association, and are available in many bookstores. But the officially atheistic government prohibits proselytizing and is worried that if the spread of religion goes unchecked, believers might ultimately challenge the Communist Party’s authority. ...The officer, who would only give her last name, Xiao, denied confiscating the Bibles. She said authorities were just “taking care” of them and provided no further details. (yeah right, just taking care of them so nobody loses them China faces routine criticism for human rights violations and repression of religious freedom. Religious practice is heavily regulated by the Communist Party, with worship allowed only in party-controlled churches, temples and mosques, while those gathering outside risk harassment, arrest and terms in labor camps or prison." So i guess those "false" media reports from last year were TRUE, why isnt that surprising? well that certainly proves to me that the Communist Party must have a lot of worries if they think a whopping 300 bibles is gonna turn the tide against their control! and the the article says that the only bibles legal in China come from ONE plant..which is communist gov backed..so that makes me wonder WHAT THOSE BIBLES SAY that are so different from the ones brought by this group? and if they are the same, why would they confiscate them from entry? which says they cant be the same right? apparantly this Christian group is still waiting at the airport for their property...how much you want to bet they will disappear pretty soon?

Um, they got what they asked for. They went there with the intention of causing problems with trying to convert people in a country to a religion that isn't the main religion and directly violated rules of that country. They have no business and no right to do what they did and are suffering the repercussions of their actions. Considering this is China they should be lucky they didn't physically get confiscated too. I hear it is really easy to get lost in Chinese prisons esp., if you are considered an enemy of the government.
