I think the best way to earn money right now here in the Philippines is to have a Boarding House or Apartment. If you're leaving near a Company, then it is a big advantages. Imagine, monthly you can have PHP 700.00 per head from the occupants, so if you could have only two bed rooms which can occupy 10 boarders then it is a huge monthly income already. I have posted this since this morning, I have time to talk with my batch mate and we did talk about out 14 years time in our company. And he respond to me that he is already stable since he earns a lot money from our co-employees as his boarders. WOW, this is great for him. How about you fellow mylotters, do you have plan to invest like this business too?

Hi agih, I agree with you! I am also trying to think about that but not this time..lol! The only concern I have is the maintenance as well as people's attitude towards paying, when I was renting before, we have the next door to us who didn't pay for like 3 months and the owner was really pis**d off since they will always say no money and when they left, I was not sure if they cleared their bills!

The way I see it, if we could have those occupants coming from a company, then I think there is no problem with the payment since they will get their salary every month or every week. Seems the difficult one is the family who is renting the apartment. But if they are singles coming from a province and no choice but to rent apartment then I think there is no problem.

Your are truly right. I mad a feasibility study on this about 10 years ago as part of our thesis in college. Truly there is a great potential in earning from such kind of business. We could see people coming in looking for work almost everyday and obviously many are hired from the provinces. They would be looking for a place to stay. That would be something to think about. What is needed is just the capital. But as what your friend did, accepting boarders in his house is also great way to earn instead of building an apartment from his own pocket.

That's right, if we have excess room in our house, we can earn extra money for this. But we should be very careful when choosing the occupants.

I had friends who bought a house, rented it out, and used the money to buy a new house. He also worked two jobs as well. If you have enough money and can put a good down payment on a house and rely on the renters and boarders to pay your mortgage for you, you can do it. But you may have to live there as well. Now if you have enough money to buy another house and then just go and collect the rent money, then it would be perfect. But you also have to make sure that the repairs are made, and are responsible for what is happening, to see that the insurances are paid up. But it is a good money maker and it is a good investment, so go for it.

Well that is really cheap because most of the payments are about 5 thousand to 25 thousand and that is really cheap. As long you have shelter and you can rest and sleep then there is no big deal with the style of the place as long you can earn a life time money..:-0 God bless and have a nice day

we're in this kind of business for about a decade now..and i can say that, yes it is a good investment but it depends on the location..if it is located in the metro chances are, you can earn alot but if it is located in the province, you must screen your prospects before you let them occupy your space. based on our experience, tenants will pay their rent on time within the first few months then later on they will start to make alibis with the delaying of their payment..such a headache..it's a normal drama for us already lol...

We have this experience already. When we transferred to our new house, one family rented our old house for as low as PHP1,500.00 monthly, the first two months is fine until such time that the occupants is always promising the payment next month, next month, and until they accumulated for almost a year did not doing the payment. So my mother-in-law decided to fired them. We are considering their status since she has a three kids and her husband is working in a military, so she is the one taking care of all the expenses, but we have no choice but to fired them.

Renting out a house or aprtment is a great way to earn lifetime earnings. Actually, once you have a house to live, it is best to start saving to buy another house. When you have some upfront cash buy a 3 bedroom apartment. On say a 80% loan of the house in our area, you need to pay about 1200$. While a 3 bedroom apartment rent is 2000$. Rent out the house to different bachelor's, you may even earn more. So on average you might be able to save 800$. Not a bad idea, right?

tHAT is so true. Boarding house/Apartments do really get high earnings. I am working here in Manila and I am just renting an apartment. Just imagine we are renting an apartment, 7600 Php a month. I am looking forward to be successful and I will invest my money to business like this. I hope so.

I definitely agree with you. Owning a house for rent is something you can invest and earn from. Well, that’s what I plan to do when I have enough money. Guess I will try saving up and and buy lots that are sold cheap buy the owners and start to build an apartment or a house that I could get income from. Imagine the apartments these days, decent apartments here in cebu is around 12 to 15 thousand already and just imagine getting that sum for as long as you own the house. Well, investment is kind of big when you start this kind of business, but income wont stop coming in once you are established!

I agree with you... my landlady and her husband who is and engineer is in such a business... and they already have 4 apartment buildings in our barangay... and they are earning more hundreds of thousands in just one month... but of course... on needs to shell out millions... and would have to wait a few years for a return of investment... but it is all worth it...

Inmy country it not works. Here the price of flat is ho high. You need to cost more than 1,00,000$ for a single flat with three rooms only. Now, if you invest this money in bank then you will earn atleast 1000$ per month as interest. But, you wil be able to earn maximum 500$ a month from the renting. The high cost of land is responsible for it. Happy day!

We are in this business--rentals that is.It's a very good business because it is not so tasking (when you have the right tenants).I would say that success would depend greatly on the location. These days, it is so expensive to build because of the high cost of construction materials so the return of investment would take longer. However, if you have extra finances, you can always begin with one unit.It would be wise to make use of what you have for a start. In our case, since we have a two-storey house along the highway which is a highly commercial area, we sacrificed our garage and living room and had the first floor rented out to one tenant. The problem with boarding houses or apartments is that you talk to too many people with varying characters.Of course delays in payment will always arise putting you in a dilemma.Just as long as tenants pay you in time, then you're in business.Good Luck!

Actually I am thinking about that, but I dont have money, I dont have a job and I am totally broke right now. I dont want to ask money from my parents, they are providing me everything I need, I dont want them to shoulder all the things I want to do with my life. It is my life, they are part of my life, but making them shoulder everythings makes me feel bad.
