I wish! I don't read or speak Arabic, but I think it's a beautiful language and take a lot of pleasure in simply looking at the texts. lol I've thought about taking classes in it, but they're always scheduled for times that I can't attend or cost too much. Enjoy your new books! thumbup

As to Arabic language, that's fantasty to me.
I'm interesting in this special cluture.
I used to try some numbers in wring in Arabic.
I found it very difficult to learn.
It's different with our usual writing custom.
Maybe you can tell me something easlier skills to learm it.

I can read Arabic, but I understand very little of it like most Muslims in south east asia. I dunno about other countries but I hope to learn Arabic in depth someday so that I can understand the Quran better and also be able to converse in Arabic. Some people tend to scoff at it course it sounded rough and coarse, especially exaggerating on the letter "kha" coming out from the throat.

Reading in Arabic is a little bit tricky but easier to understand than Chinese characters. Every letter is represented by a character. It is wriiten from right to left in its longhand fashion. The numbers are easy to memorize than the letters.
Speaking the language in another thing thing though.
To be able to speak and read arabic , one has to go to where they practice the language.I had the chance to work in Kuwait 10 years ago and to describe it in some sentences is a watse of time. The Arab world is an interesting place to live with its diversity in culture and people. Some of my friends went to study in the Madrasa(school) to be proficient. The trick is to listen how they express themselves. They usually speak from the throat accompanied by hand gestures to convey a message.
I liken Arabic to any native language where a different group of people in a different town speaks a different tone or inflection. An example would be that Arabs from Turkey has their distinct way of saying a word. Those from Saudi Arabia say their words in another way. From my experience, just hear your new Arab friend how he pronounce the numbers and words. That way, you will know how from which part of the Arabian kingdom he hails from.
