nanciem (391) | 1 year ago | Oh.. what I failed to mention is I have a very curious 2 year old, any remedy would have to be safe for him.
I could not imagine him getting hurt with anything that would keep stinkin' mice away...!
I have also heard that mouse "crap" when airborne is hazardous.. has anyone heard of this?

thelastwolf113 (3084) | 1 year ago | Put the rice up high, out of the way of the baby. Use the same rice they already ruined. A trap has no poison, but it'll hurt if the baby puts his fingers in the trap. Put the trap along the wall of the cabinet, they like to travel along walls.
I not sure about the feces but why take the chance? It's got to be dirty, if the mouse had a disease it'll be in the feces. Yuck!
In the fall, mice come into our house from the woods out back. We're ready for them. We put traps in the cabinets as soon as it gets cool outside.

nanciem (391) | 1 year ago | OMG!.. We never had this problem as I did have a cat, I had to put him down. I think the mice know this!
They are also going into the dog food!.. If they (mice) poop in there, our dogs eat it, could they get sick?
Maybe I should get another cat?

jsmith12 (373) | 1 year ago | It may not work. We had mice, even when we had cats around. And the cats did go after, and catch some of the mice.
So there's no garuntee that a cat will chase the mice off.

The best way to catch a mouse is with a trap, another way is poison, but with poison, he might die somewhere you can't find him and then you will get a scent.

5. sudalunts (4247) | 1 year ago | I do not have that problem where I live now. Where I used to live, I had a mice, my father gave me some little green pellets, and I put them down, and had no more problem. What I think they are, are cyanide and when the mice eats it, it becomes thirsty, and usually go outside to get water, when they drink the water, they swell and die. They will not die in the house. The silly rodent I had ate it died and I never saw it, I just saw the droppings, that is how I knew Mickey was in my house.

6. jsmith12 (373) | 1 year ago | They likely are mice. You should consider putting all of your food in sealed containers, as even if you do trap the mice already there, unless you remove the food source, more will come.
As for how to get rid of them, it REALLY depends on if you have pets or not. If you have any kind of pet, do not use poison or glue traps. Both of these can easily kill your own pet. In fact glue traps should not be used at all as they are EXREAMLY inhuman.
In fact, if you have any small pets, your best bet is to live trap the mice, so you don't get one of your pets caught by mistake, and take them far away from the house.
But unless you remidy the situataion of a food source, you'll find yourself constantly dealing with univinted guests.

nanciem (391) | 1 year ago | Hi J..
I do have small pets,( Chiuahuahs) and a 2 year old baby. I agreee the glue traps are extremely inhumane, would you think calling a Pest control place would be beneficila? I know they do have live traps, I don't want to kill the "guest" I just know they are dirty and cannot jeopardize my family's health.. ya know?

jsmith12 (373) | 1 year ago | I've never met one pesonally, but they tend to use poisons as well, and may involve getting you to leave the house while it's done.
I would say overall your best bet is to go somewhere like home depo or such, and pick up a few live traps. Even if your dog or child gets into them, they're not dangerous at all. Even the snap traps would be bad in your situation, as I think they could have enough power to seriously injure a small dog or child, and you have both.
If you can find either thick plastic, or metal containers, seal your food in that. If there's no food, you're less likely to have mice. Once that's done I'd put out the live traps, and that should round up any who may want to hang around. I would say that's the safest way to rid your house of mice without putting anyone in danger.
