Mamograms do you believe in them

A couple weeks ago my daughter took me along with her to get a mamogram, my first, of course it came back as something that they seen but more tests were needed, they found a spot, but it did not give them enough information. So yesterday they sent me for more tests at the hospital. The first one was another mamogram, but this time they put some extention on to the machine and it came down and smashed it flatter, and boy did it hurt, she said now hold your breath and all i could do was say please hurry. In todays world they can't find something that is easier on women to go and test. Now I see why people don't want to go and take the tests. Any way after that we went for a sonogram. The woman giving the test turned the screen around so that I could see it too. She was good about explaining what she saw,she said whatever they saw on the first mamogram didn't show on the sonagram, so what is that suppose to tell me now. I would think that a ultrasound would show more of what they was looking for than a managram. What do you think, should I be worried aobut this now, or ask for more tests, my daughter thinks they got the test results mixed up her spot was gone and now i got one, we live on same street just a couple numbers difference in our addresses, where did her's go she has had it 2 years. Any way they didn't say do anything else is it over, what? What do you think?

I think mamograms are accurate but maybe you should both go to the same doctor with both of your results and get the doctor to check each side by side to make sure.
I agree that surely in this day and age they should be able to invent a much better way of examining. Guys don't have theirs squashed flat so why should we?
Maybe the thing on the mamogram is nothing but maybe you should go back to your doctor and ask him why it showed up on the first test and not on the second. He should have the answers as he is a doctor, i can't really say anything because i'm not qualified. I think the best person to talk to is your doctor.
Good luck with it :)

We do have the same doctor and I am waiting on the results from the second mamogram to see what it says, but I can't understand why if there was such a spot it would not show on the ultrasound, she said she could not see any spot that they was talking about in the area they said. So I think the doctor needs to figure out what is going on and why it isn't there on the ultrasound.

I may pay for this someday but I don't really believe in them and have not had one yet (I'm 48). I feel that squashing my poor boob flat is not good for it. I think that they need to come out with a better test. Once they do then I will go for the test.
I think it is kind of weird about what happened to you and I would question someone again about it. Also get the hard copies of the results.

The original mamogram did not hurt, it was uncomforabole the way they made you stand but did not hurt, it was when I had to go back a second time, that they added the extention thing that smashed it flat that it hurt so bad, and I did tell them I won't do it again. But don't be afraid to get one it don't hurt really.

Well when the ultrasound showed nothing I am done unless they can prove to me there is something there. She said they found nothing where they was told to look, she said could be fatty tissue, so I am not worried about it unless they can prove to me there is something there to be worried about.

I took a mammogram once & it hurt so bad that i refused to take another one..My doctor kept asking me to do another one but when i told him it hurt so bad ,he referred me to a woman doctor who would not hurt me.so i went to her & i explained why i had always refused to take another test. She told me that it was not necessary to be so rough & that some of the testers just smash you way to hard & can do more damage than good..So she did mine & it did not hurt..So now i only go to her..You need to check around & find a more gentle tester..
