What is the difference between perfume and cologne?

For me, im more prefer to use the cologne than the perfume. Because sometimes my skin get irritated with the perfume.

as i can understand about this two scents, perfume and cologne smell almost the same and have almost the same proportion of essential oils. But perfume have higher concentration of essential oils than cologne. perfume as it is more concentrated than cologne, is more expensive but it stays longer in our skin than cologne,
