Yeah ok I should see a doctor about it but I am not talking about that sort of problem!! . Ok the problem is that I am trying to get rid of a well established rhododendron plant in my garden. I have tried to dig it up but I just can't dig deep enough and it is in a really awkward place. My friends fella said that banging a copper nail into it would rot it evetually but have you ever seen a copper nail? Then my friend suggested pouring costic soda mixed with a little water over it. I did this, then went away for a few days expecting to come back to see a dead plant but no, it is growing new shoots and thriving very well thankyou!! Any of you guys out there got any idea what would kill this plant off? I don't mind damaging the soil because I am putting a membrane down and stones on top.

Take one stick of dynamite and insert with fuse sticking above ground, well into the root. Ignite fuse and run. Advantage: Plant not only leaves garden but probably becomes neighbour's problem to dispose of. Disadvantage: House collapses. You might like to try the techniques advised here: www.hancockwoodlands.ca/tenways.html They take a little longer.

Hi Humbug.. Just pour some toilet cleaning acid.. most of them will contain the hydrochloric acid in it.. it will finish it off.. If the plant is tall and have a good strong stem, may be repeating this process for a day or two will be a good thing. About Copper nail.. i have never heard about the thing.

Hey saivenkaat802003 That sounds like a good idea. I think that it has rained so much here that maybe the costic soda hasn't actually worked because it has been diluted by the rain! Cheers!
