What do you think CCTV is for? Do you think it is there for our safety, or for them to spy on us? If you think that they are there to spy on us, do you REALLY want the CCTV to watch you all the time? Would you like your mother or father to put a CCTV camera in your room to spy on you? What do YOU think the CCTV is there for really?

My mothers handbag was recently stolen from the place she worked, the cctv footage clearly shows a man entering the shop with no handbag and leaving it with my mothers handbag and yet the police said that they were able to do nothing as the footage did not actually show the man taking the bag from where it was inside. The cctv camera inside the shop showed the man leaving with the handbag but as it was taken from the office, the camera did not cover that section of the store.

Just like any other technologies, CCTV is no different in that it can be used for good or bad... If somebody uses a car, or any other vehicle, to run somebody over, that's not good... But in majority of the cases, vehicles are being used to help our daily lives... When cordless phone first came out, people could use a short wave radio to listen in on the conversation down the street, stealing credit card numbers & even worse things... CCTVs can be used for security & safety purpose... But then, it can be used to spy on someone... There are cameras all over the world & we're being watched & recorded without even knowing it... Some of the most common places for cameras are; traffic, banks, parks, court buildings, police buildings, malls, restaurants & etc... I can't really tell what they're there for but I'd like to think they're there for our safeties & securities more so than spying... That being said, I'm not naive enough to think that there's no spying going on around the world... I guess we gotta live with the bad along with good...
