Freecycle is Useless!

I'm not saying that freecycle in general is no good, but my local group is completely useless! Most all the members that post offers are trying to give away totally worthless junk, like lawnmowers (that don't work), Easter baskets (the kind you can buy for less then a buck anyway), branches to an artificial Christmas tree (just the branches, not the rest of the tree!), etc. Further more, if you post a "Wanted" add for something you need, either no one has it or someone responds to tell you where you can BUY the item. Hello! The purpose of freecycle is to find stuff for free! If I had the means to buy it, I would not be looking for it on freecycle to begin with!
Anyways, if you belong to your local freecycle group, how is it? Is your local group good? Or is it useless like mine?

I have not had any local use of it but one of my daughters had some use in the town where she used to live. Most of what she gave or got was childrens clothes or used furniture or toys.

Used furniture is what I need since we are moving into an apartment on the 1st of September and we do not have any furniture at all! lol. Childrens' clothes always come in handy too, they grow so fast!

My local groups are ok, (there are 4 within a 10 miles range) but I have yet to get anything from there. I have no vehicle, and dispite the idea that they are helping people everyone seems to have the attitude get it yourself or go without, well with 2 young children and limited bus routes, its virtually impossible for me to take advantage of freecycle no matter how bad I need something, and theres plenty I need with another child due in 4 months :(

I understand about not having a vehicle because we don't have one at the moment either. We do a few friends who would take us to pick something up if we needed them to, but no one in my local group seems to have anything worth picking up anyway, lol.
2 young children and another one on the way! Wow! I can certainly understand that you need a lot of things. Good luck and congrations on the new baby!
