Grandparents raising their grandchildren.

I have a close friend who has had to raise all three boys of one of her sons. He and his wife got into drugs and they took guardianship of the boys when they took off to another state once. They have treated those boys as their own, taking care of them, schooling them, and just being there for them. Their Mom and Dad are now back in their lives, but the grandparents still have one of them that just wanted to stay there with them. Without these grandparents, I don't know where those boys would have been. One of them has gone into the military and grown into a nice young man. One will be graduating from high school this year. I know that it has been a big hardship on them since her husband is retired, and he's had to try to go back to work to have money to keep the kids in school and pay the extra bills.
