I just cant believe this country, its fiesta season and as such all of Spain is shut!
I wanted to sell my car, but the Trafico closes for August, I have a court case and needed to speak with my solicitor, but shes closed for August, and so on, and so on. All they seem to be "opent" for is parties, all night long and fireworks, all night long. Anyone else suffer for Spains famous closed "fiesta" season?

I don't live in spain but it is a place I'd love to visit. For you Fiesta season might be a pain and make you suffer but only if you knew how good you had it there. It would be nice if Canada had a Fiesta season. It would give a break from work, make people appreciate more, and allow the much needed time spent with family. Here, people work so hard and such long hours to provide a good life for their families that they never get to see them. Canada needs to have a 2 week fiesta season where the cities close down and parties happen. By the way, when's the big tomatoe throwing?

Oh thats held on the last day of July in Buñol, a village a long way away from me, and yes I would love to see that, possibly partake even!!LOL Maybe one year when I can afford it. Thats the only problem here now, no jobs or badly paid because many foreigners will work for nothing and live 20 to a house and prices have shot through the roof since fuel went up so high. Oh well, no one can have everything can they?

We have that her too, the 20 to a house, low paid forigners and sky rocketing gas prices. It does suck and I didn't quite realize how bad it was in Spain. I guess the fiesta would only be fun and worth it if it was possible to go to it. But then the paycheque doesn't come in either. So it has it's pro's and con's. Thanks for letting me know when the tomatoe toss is. I want to go to it sometime. Maybe in a few years I'll have my chance!

Hi Ritz!
Same situation here in Italy.
I had to send a registered letter last week and, convinced that the main Post Office would be open all day as usual, I went in the afternoon. What did I discover? For the whole month of August it only openes in the mornings
Same with all the public offices (and private ones close down for at least two weeks). Some shops close in the afternoons too.
Here we get the fireworks too every year in every town and village it seems and on many different dates all celebrating soemthing. It's fun but it is akward with the closing all at the same time in August.
Next month everywhere will return to normal opening hours again - and there will be no parking spaces
Seems we can't have it all
Happy posting!
