http://www.pampers.com/en_US/unicef_homepage.do Pampers donating a "life saving vaccine" is only 1 vaccine.. maybe im insane.. but when i heard about this on their commercial i thought that they donated a life saving vaccine such as the 1 shot that has several different vaccines in it or all the shots for 1 baby but its only tetanus in it.. maybe its because i live in america but i dont think of tetanus being a huge life saving thing.. so is tetanus more serious than i think? is it more common where they are donating? am i wrong in thinking it was gonna be different shots??

According to the Centers for Disease Control: Tetanus – particularly the neonatal form – remains a significant public health problem in non-industrialized countries. There are about one million cases of tetanus reported worldwide annually, causing an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 deaths each year. Unfortunately a lot of newborns in developing countries have their umbilical cords cut with unsterilized instruments and have no resistance to the bacteria because their mothers weren't innoculated. I knew any kind of infectious disease could become fatal if untreated, especially in undeveloped countries but to be honest I didn't realize tetanus was THAT widespread of a problem. In the US only about 100 come down with it and an average of 5 people die each year. We don't really think it's that big of a deal. So I say bravo and two to Pampers!

i didnt even think about delivery/cutting the umbilical cord thing.. must be because you never hear about it in the usa which is why it seemed like no biggie when i heard it

I think that even thought its only tetanus what pampers in doing is a good thing. Some or most of the countries that they are donating to dont have acess to the necesary vacines and I would say tetanus is a start.Other companies should jump on the boat and donate other vacines too. But I get your point on thinking that it woulld be multiple or different shots.

well i dont have kids but what if i had and chose to ONLY buy that brand and had bigger expectations?? yeah its great they are doing something i dunno i would be disappointed and mislead.. maybe i just totally misunderstood their commercial or something.. maybe the difference in money i could have donated to some where that does all the shots etc..

I heard that it was for life-threatening diseases, but I could be wrong.

well why would you be wrong in thinking that?. they didnt specify obviously at first so people are ganna think.lmao Anyways tetnus isnt a life saving vaccine as far as a vaccine to stop aids or anything BUT without the vaccine people run the risk of dying... like if i step onto a dirty rusty nail. and dont get the vaccine or havnt had it and i just let it go without getting the shot it forms somthing and that somthing can kill you.... so i guess if they are donating it to people who cannot afford to take the kids to the doctor or they cant afford to take themselves. then yes it would be conciderd a life saving vaccine:)
