Will you be angry if friends forgot your birthday?

Hi everyone!

I've actually been thinking if I'd start this discussion. I don't know in posting this I'm showing an acceptance or venting out. Anyway, here's how it all started:

Three years ago, I celebrated my 18th birthday and I treated my friends at a nearby KFC from school. We had a 4-hour break so we got the chance to go out. I didn't like to celebrate my 18th birthday as a debut party (turning 18 in the Philippines among girls is like US's sweet 16) because frankly, I don't like to wear dresses and I don't like that sophisticated party So I just thought I'd celebrate my debut in my own simple way. That birthday was the first time I ever treated friends. It was one of my greatest birthday celebrations! I was even shocked that they made me this huge birthday card (one of them was really very creative) and they even bought me a cake.

The year after that, my birthday was on a day wherein we had to attend our OJT's on different places. No one remembered my birthday that day and I was so disappointed. They all wished my happy birthday the next day though, but why did not even one of them remember my birthday? Maybe because they thought it was on a 26th? (mine's 25th).

Last year, my birthday was on a day that we were all together in a class. One classmate called me up that morning because he was living near me and was asking if we'd go together to school. My mom told him it was my birthday and I was kind of upset because I want to know if anyone will remember my birthday that year. So my mom called up my classmate and told him not to tell anyone. We got to school and they remembered (I hope they naturally did unless my classmate was able to break the news).

And my birthday this year comes. It was just last August 25. I was glad to wake up and see that one of my friends greeted me. I waited whole day to see who remembers but only she remembered my birthday. I'm very thankful for her though! Anyway, I received many greetings from classmates, former teacher and friend, and online friends. I also got greetings from people I didn't know and I'm thankful to them too. But my other friends...they totally forgot. I don't know why. All I know is I'm already thankful for those who greeted me and I'm so glad they did. Of all the people, those whom I didn't expect were the ones who remembered. By the way, these friends I'm talking about are classmates and we just graduated last March so we don't get to see each other anymore. What was annoying was that one of them was sending me text message quotes on my birthday for several times. Did she not remember? It's okay for me but receiving those quotes meant nothing to me that day. My only sentiment is that I know all of their birthdays yet most of them forgot. Isn't that ironic?

I really don't know what I feel about it. Maybe I'm a bit mad but the other people who wished my happy birthday really made me feel great and they put a smile on my face.
