between me and my hubby, he is the vainer one. i mean, can you believe he combs his hair BEFORE going to bed? and that he spends twice the length of time that i do when preparing to go out? and that he cannot go out without first taking a bath? and that he refuses to be seen twice in the same shirt in two consecutive days?
and that he..oh, i could go on and on, but you would be bored. bottom line is, in my case and from what i know of men that i am acquainted with, MEN ARE MORE VAIN. they tend to be more insecure about how they look to others, so they spend longer hours than i do in inspecting their physical appearance.
but maybe this is because i am the person who does not care much about outer appearances. i mean i could go outside without properly brushing my hair (i DO tie it up, i don't want to appear very unkempt) and be ready to go within minutes' notice. so everybody else i know MUST be vainer than i am. hee hee hee.
share your thoughts :)

If we have to tally, I'm sure everyone has his or her own opinion, but in my family, it's definitely the guys who are more vain.
I sometimes see my brother looking at his mirror closely, and one of the more recent conversations went like this:
ME: "Are you that in love with yourself?"
HIM: "I haven't been sleeping well, my eyes look sunken."
ME: "They look fine."
HIM: "Really? I actually think it's okay because it makes my eyes look deep-seated."
ME: "Okay! Don't care!"
My dad goes to the facial every weekend. He complains about how dark he's gotten because of his job. His hair doesn't fit his age. When he gets a haircut, he complains it's too short and his white hair is obvious. He buys branded clothes because he thinks they look better.
My mom has classy taste in clothing and hairstyle (her hair is LONG) and while she spends time washing her face with whatever-product, putting on lotion, using cologne, she never looks at the mirror and complain about her appearance. The only times she does that is when she bought something new and is deciding whether it fit her.
Me? I'm the worse of the lot. I do all the basic hygienic stuff and don't actually care much about my appearance... to the consternation of my mother. :P She actually wishes I was more careful with my body, but I'm too lazy to actually pay more than a cursory inspection of my self, hehe.

It depends really, though if I am to be frankā¦the very fact that men can rule over women is the first and most prevalent of all vanities and this should automatically make guys more vain than gals. You see them right from small boys in schools to teens to couples and even parents. And this is restricted not only to physique but is mental too. Just because history proves that there are far far less women achievers in any given field than men (I am not going into the reasons for this), most guys think they are smarter than gals (my own son included).
