"BER" months will start after 3 days, have you started your Christmas shopping?

It would be the "ber" months after three days; SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, and then DecemBER. I ask this question so early because I would like to give some pointers if anyone would like to adapt it. Usually we buy our gifts on Christmas day itself, or a week before Christmas and we always have the crowded shopping area to contend with, as everyone had the same plan of shopping at those times. This suggestion I'm going to make have been practised by me for the past two years now and I can assure you it helps a lot with budgeting and careful preparation for my gifts to my friends and most especially for my family. The well thought of gifts show too that you truly care for them. First I write down the gifts that I would like to give each family member and my close friends. A practical gift that she/he would really need and appreciate. Then I start buying 3-4 gifts per payday. The advantage of this is that my gift would be well thought of and something that I had really intended to give (because I'll be going around until I find that particular gift.) It would not also burn a whole in my pocket as I buy them little by little. I was also able to avoid the Christmas rush. 15 days before Christmas eve, I would have already my gifts ready for the important people in my life. I only buy on Christmas day itself gifts for a colleague for "exchange gifts". This practice of buying withn the span of the months before Christmas had reduced the hole in my pocket come Christmas day. Do you do this too? How do you prepare for your christmas gifts?

Yeah, i din realised the names of the next coming months till i responded to a similiar discussion.. lol =D I think i have taken my last 23 yrs of life for granted and been counting the days and months in vain because i dunno that, starting from septemBER, the rest that follows are BERS too.. lol ANyway, it's also still early for christmas celebrations as in singapore, there are still 2 more major religious holidays b4 we really start to have the christmas mood.. haha

Yes, the ber months, I was not aware there was a similar discussion or I wouldn't have posted this. Anyway this post has a different focus. Mine is on gifts. That's great info about the holidays in Singapore. Thanks for that vital input.

I always start my Christmas shopping long before the ber months roll around. I keep my eye out all year long for things that different people might like on my Christmas list. By the time the ber months roll around I have all my Christmas shopping done. I don't like crowds so that is why I always make sure my Christmas shopping is done by Thanksgiving. My gifts are all wrapped up and put in a closet in my computer room. That way I can relax when everyone else is having to fight the crowds to do their Christmas shopping.

I dont buy gifts, I make them. So I dont have problems with buying gifts for people. I just buy the stuffs I need, for example - beads. Usually people buy gifts which are already ready to be wrapped. So I dont have problems buying beads and other stuffs. I have only few people to give gifts to, so it's okay even if I make them on weekends only. I dont have problems at all.

That's cool, it would be very personalized and meaningful because you have made them yourself. Thanks for that vital contribution, perhaps we too can make our own gifts as early as now.
