Thrust (God's Words)

Our usual speaker was absent and I was called to preach instead. It was a concert for few hundred people at a college we'd never visited before; the students were mostly older than I. When God thrusts us into unsure situations, there are two options: fear or faith. We can question and make the most of our time by preparing rather than worrying. In this case, I chose faith. Feeling immense peace with that choice, I prayed and prepared as best I could. The message was clear and many gave their lives to Jesus on that day.
God will thrust us into things and we won't feel ready. But we've got to be confident in the power of His Spirit in us, so we can do what we need to do. I've learned that when I'm not abiding in God or when I have unrepented sin, I have no confidence. But when I'm in right standing before God, doing my best to live in holiness, I have confidence that the Holy Spirit is leading me, and I need not fear.
