You are right, he doesn't owe her anything. And she really should just forget about the money she lend her own campaign. But she had some pledged supporters that apparently then swung to Obama which made it difficult for her to cover all the debt she had incurred. I guess that's where the 'owing' could be construed from. My guess is she worked out a deal with him. In exchange for an endorsement from her and for gloriously trying to unify the Democrats, he'll pay up. She is campaigning for him, too. One hand washes the other.
