What type of dog is it? If it is a small dog get a spray bottle and squirt him on the nose. If it is a large dog just bop him on the nose. This may not work if it doesn't try to send him to a friend that is looking for a dog. Try not to send pound because over 1/2 the dogs are put to sleep there.

I have two miniature poodles that are loving but they bark. They are likely to bark at animals on television, Secret at the postman and Magic at large dogs when we are walking. I suggest that the you are kind to your dog but strict with training. Say no when he does something naughty then turn away, only look at him again when he is quiet and good. Take him for a long walk before you wish to study then when you get back he will be tired. Good luck and I hope that you will always give your dog a loving home.

That's the problem when people get pets as gifts. I am sure the gift was well meant but not thought out properly.
I am afraid puppies yelp and mature dogs bark. That is their way of getting attention and puppies, dogs need attention.
He just wants to be your friend and for you to love and play with him.
I really think that you are too young at the moment for this responsibility and since the puppy is still young I would suggest trying to find a good home for him.
I don't think your uncle will mind if you explain that you just don't have the time to spend with the pup and it would be better for him to go to another home.
If you wait too long the pup will be too attached to you and the home, best to do it now.
And talk about bark, bark, bark, wait until you have children and they just cry, cry cry, you can't give them away!!!
