Mother whale tries to protect her baby from 'cannibals'

A grey mother whale tries to protect her 20 feet calf from the attack of a group of killer orca whales who are intent on having this young whale for their next meal, orca whales are about 26 feet long and weigh around 6 tonnes each and will stop at nothing to get a good feed even going as far as to attack their own. The attack on this young whale lasted 90 minutes before sadly, the calf lost its battle and was killed and consumed by the orcas. This attack is one of 20 per year that occur in monterey bay in california. I found this a really sad story but i guess the essence of any living creature is survival, even if it means going as far as to resort to 'cannibalism'.
