Many common household products can be used for ills and ailments. I have a few listed on my website (link in my profile) in my "The Medicine Cabinet" link. Our ancestors didn't have the over-the-counter preparations that we have available and used many different household items as well as herbs and berries from the woods when they were will or injured.
Do you have any recipes for home remedies that you would like to share?

Ginger is of course a good remedy for nausea. Mom always used nutmeg for the same thing. I think that the best all around tonic is cider vinegar with honey. Drink it daily in water, hot or cold, and it prevents many things and heals others. I do not stick to it. I wish I did. If you do not dilute it with water, you can take a small spoonful to ease a cough. Live cultured yogurt keeps you healthy inside and out. Cranberry to flush out UTI's. There are lots of them out there.

Vinegar is supposed to be good for many things. I do not mix it as you described to drink, but I eat a lot of things with vinegar - pickled vegetables and such.

a majority of natural remedies are very inexpensive. Lemons in a raw form removes toxins from your body. If you believe you have waste build up in your body, consuming a large amount of lemons will remove it. You will aid your colon and your liver and your entire body with the extra vitamin c as well.

newtodak . .my remedy I want to share is Olive Oil.
My daughter had acne and as any teenager she was so upset when this started. So instead of going to the dermatologist I had her try something I had heard about first.
What we did was made a paste by mixing 4 tablespoons of salt with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Poured the mixture onto our hands and fingers and then worked it around her face. She then left it on for a minute or 2 and then rinsed it off with warm soapy water. She applied this daily for about a week then cut back to 2 or 3 times weekly. The improvement was unbelievable!
The principle is that the salt cleanses the pores by exfoliation , while the olive oil restores the skins moisture.
It certainly made her happy and we saved a trip to the Dr.
Olive oil is also a great hair conditioner.
