I wish I would have gotten my camera out - it was "kirby" day in our area

Ever had the kirby salespeople hit your neighborhood hard? If anyone doesn't know they are expensive vacuum cleaners (not poking fun though, they are nice). So they must have sent out a dozen salespeople and they were doing the tactic of shampooing one room of carpet just so they can supposedly just "get your opinion" on how good of a job it does. I'd been through it several times so I knew what I was in for but this one was the worst yet. So I think everyone on my street that was home said yes to the freebie and I am not kidding you the guy was in my house for 4 hours! I had the whole explanation and run down and eventually yes he did kind of clean part of a carpeted area after we said no to the deal and he was all sad. Then you could tell who also said no to their high selling tactics becuase when I went to a neihbors house to see if she bought one (and what price they offered her) there were 5 salespeople lined up all at the end of our driveways with their boxed up kirbys waiting for a ride. I wish I would have had my camera or video out because that would have made for a funny picture. They are all in their suits and looking miserably hot in 90+ degrees and looking all defeated. I mean this guy would not leave - he kept telling me his manager was coming to pick up up but I saw the guy drive by 5 times so I just let him sit there for at least an hour while I did my chores and I'm cooking dinner and he's looking hungry since it was getting late. So anyways, I just thought I would share that.

My mom had the same experience. But his boss wouldn't come back. He was there for like 3 hours. I'm not sure he ever cleaned her carpet. he wouldn't leave. She kept saying, I'm on a fixed income. He just didn't get it........;-)

they are definitely persistant and they will finance it for the rest of your life if that is what it takes. I thought it was funny watching the van going back and forth. Oh and I loved the girl that came first to tell us that the guy was coming around and that they really didn't expect us to buy one of those expensive kirby's just do them a favor so they can make $50 doing the demo.

They were begging my mom to buy one, and she was begging them to leave. It was funny. She helped them pack.

We had them come by once, I didn't even know what they wanted. The guy had a binder and I was on my way out with a bag of garbage in my hand. I happened to open the door in the exact moment he wanted to knock. And of course I had opened the door wide in order to get through with that big bag. He immediately stepped up and inside the house saying something like that so&so had already informed us and he was here for ... I couldn't understand him, he was mumbling so badly trying to push his way in. My husband was on the phone and didn't get at first what was going on until I started yelling at the guy to get out and tried to push him back with the garbage bag in front of me. I'm short, this guy was tall, but my husband is taller, lol. When hubby came over and towered over him and yelled at him to get out of the house or he would call the police, he finally left. Later on we saw a car drive buy and people who were similarly dressed got two boxes out of the trunk and disappeared into two neighboring houses. Then the car left. And yes, couple hours later they were standing at the curb, too. The next day, our neighbor told us who they were. We had just been utterly confused by that guys behavior. We were just glad we got him out of the house and not further inside. We thought he was an overly pushy sales person. In retrospect we should have called the police. I mean the way he tried to push me out of the way and back into the house could have almost passed as a home invasion. And now I'm so scared of something like that happening to me again that I always check double and triple before I even open the door.

wow, that was so uncalled for, and yes I think you probably could have pressed charges. They don't need to act like that. Obviously you got the krazy kirby guy.
