Lifelong fan  | |  I have loved Skynyrd almost as long as I can remember. In the early 80's, I got turned on to them by a friend and have loved the band since. I own every song they've ever recorded and I listen to them every day. Never get tired of the songs because unlike a lot of bands or singers every song tells a story.
I guess my favorite songs are All I Can Do Is Write About It, Mr. Banker, Ain't No Good Life, The Last Rebel and That Smell. But I love them all.
When I first heard them, it was after the plane crash, so I never got to see the original band in concert. I have seen them since Johnny got on board(I'm a fan of his solo stuff too like Last of the Wild Ones) and was not disappointed. Pure rock, pure southern, no other band has equaled Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Standing in the front row with Rossington, Collins and Gaines at the edge of the stage, cranking on Free Bird for what seemed like forever, was an experiance I'll never forget. Got to see them again in 1987 in Jacksonville, where they played an instumental only version of Free Bird. They had Ronnies hat perched on a microphone stand in the middle of the stage...very moving. | |
