We have family in Lousiania, Arkansas, and Texas. We hope they will all be ok through the hurricane. I called and told the one's in LA that they could come here if need be. So far they are all waiting it out. They aren't right on the coast thank goodness! If any of you are in the path, please be safe and take precautions. I'll be praying for everyone!

How far inland are they? I pray that they will be all right. I have been watching Gustav on the TV and it is suppose to hit sometime tonight or early tomorrow. And from what they say New Orleans is going to get a direct hit. Most of the people have evacuated but some are staying. Your family should be okay depending on where they are. I know you are concerned about them. Let us know how they come through it.

The ones in Lousiania live in Hammond. They will most likely only get thunderstorms and maybe tornados, but those can do lots of damage themselves! With Katrina they were all out of power for three weeks.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers! I'm in Texas myself, but I don't think we'll be seeing many effects from this storm. I do live on the coast though, so I know what these things can do!

I hope you are safe. Just keep a good look out. That's about all you can do I reckon. Hopefully it's not going to be too bad for anyone since it slowed down some.

Oh I hope your family will be ok. I will pray for all of them and for everyone else. I hate these stupid storms. So many people have been through enough with these hurricanes. God, I hope everyone is ok. I am in Ohio so the only thing I will get from the storm is rain.

Yeah we were supposed to get a bunch of rain from the last one but we only got a little so I am thinking we might not get anything this time. Of course, we could use a little bit. :)

Yeah, I don't mind the rain. We always need that, but I can do without any more tornados.

I think this time all we'll get is maybe some rain, might not even get that. With Faye, you know, we got tornados.

Hi sunnflr. I, too, hope your family and others living close to or in the area being hit by Hurricane Gustav will be safe. That's great that you are willing to have your family come and stay with you for a bit until they are out of harm's way. I know what they might be going through--it's hard to decide to pack up and go yet they might feel they ought to for safety's sake. My husband and I sort of have an agreement to stay at home unless a storm is predicted to be higher than a Category 2 hurricane, then we will get out. We evacuated 3 or 4 times during hurricane season in 2004. That's interesting because we actually stayed home when Hurricane Charley hit!

Hi sunnflr. We do tend to decide what we will do based on the day of the week the storm might "hit" and how far we want to go when we evacuate, if we need to. There's pretty much no place to go but north when you live in South Florida. A couple of years ago, we drove to my sister's in TN for a couple of days to flee an oncoming storm. Then, I flew to TN one weekend when another storm was coming. One time, we drove to Gainesville, FL just to get out of the way. We have our hurricane stuff all together and I have important documents in a waterproof zippered pouch. I even have some photographs in one box and when we leave, if we're not flying, I put them in the trunk of the car.

Sounds like you are all prepared. I wish everyone was that well organized.

I think it's very important that all of y'all in places where hurricanes hit have a plan of action. I would hope that everyone does, but I know that's not the case. Y'all keep an eye on Hannah!

Let's start a love chain of prayers before this storm hits. Come on, the power of prayer works! My bro is on the West Coast of Florida... Heavenly Father, Watch over everyone in the path of this storm and guide them to safety. Amen

Thank you so much! I do believe prayers work. I hope your brother is ok with Hannah hits. Looks like she might be worse than Gustav now!
