haggling on neopets: what's the best amount to start with? |
|
i'm not a very good haggler on neopets and have been kicked out for haggling too much lol. sometimes i feel like i paid too much for an item. before, when i would quote my first amount, i don't quote too far from the listed price. probably only about 200 to 400 less. recently i've been quoting half the price for starters, but it takes to long. so, what's the ideal way to haggle? what percentage of the listed price do you often start with? or what's the best amount to start with?

1. Foxfire1875 (1228) | 1 year ago | It depends on the amount. For example if it was 1400, I would start at 1200 and see what the amount wanted was next and then go up in 50s.
I wouldn't start too far away from the price unless there are a lot of the item in stock. You have to move quickly for any item there is only one or two of and not go too low or you'll lose it.

mymelodake (901) | 1 year ago | yeah bookshops run out really fast, so sometimes i just resort to buying stuff from the neovia and also in kreludor because they don't run out very often.... today i didn't haggle too low at the faerie bookshop and so i got to buy another book for my neopet heheh

mymelodake (901) | 1 year ago | yeah that's why i prefer buying from the neovian press although their books are pretty limited but they don't run out that fast.... i guess nobody goes there to buy books... incidentally, that's where i got kicked out most haha. i also buy books from kreludor, but the books are a separate category from the neopian book awards... but it's ok, i just like to smarten up my neopet hehe

2. redwarrior82 (366) | 1 year ago | Hmm, if you're buying items to restock, you shouldn't worry about haggling! You should be worrying about which number is the fastest to type and you should try to get the item on the first go. The profit is much more.
If you're just buying normal items to use, I guess about 300 np less than the original price is good enough. Then I would go up in 40 nps.

3. lafavorito (2493) | 1 year ago | It depends on the price.
When the item is less than 500NP, I haggle 50NP less than the original price, then slowly move up until I get the item.
When the item is 1000NP, I haggle 100NP less.

| 4. sleepy_z (1) | 10 months ago | i have to disagree with whats been being said
i've been playing for years, yes im that cool, and one of my fav things to do is haggle i always start with 100 in less the price of the object is less then 900 then ill start with 50
what you want to do is handle it like its rl go up in by 25s 50s or 100s depending on how much you really want the object
never ever ever make the mistake of putting a lower bid then the one before it will rise the price and its impossible to get it down again
one you come with in 50 you sbould have a good chance of getting it so start going up it 10 to get the object
thats what i think is the best way and its been working for me very well
