Why does MyLot offer "FREE Smileys" in its home page?

I am not sure if the imoticons on the home page of MyLot are spyware links or MyLot's own ads! These so-called Smileys are against the aristocracy of MyLot as far as I think. These jumping-and-laughing imoticons are not only annoying for our eyes, but also spoiling the beauty of the site, in my opinion. Is MyLot earning anything from these Smileys? I don't think so, as they claim to be free Smileys. Will anybody please enlighten me the matter?
