I don't think mobiles will totally replace telephones, at least it can't do it now. In my city, almost all people have mobiles, even the kids. Although so many people have mobile phones, people also have a telephone in their house. The fee of telephone is much cheaper than mobiles. So if people have to chat a long distance call for a long time, they still prefer to using telephone but not cellphones.

Even im from India.. i dont think mobiles can totally replace the telephones as telephones need no charge but mobiles need.. in our place frequent power cut occurs during that time our nokia cell phones will get switched off and we cant make even a single call at that time i always felt telephone are far better than mobiles , as usage of mobiles cause many defects to brain it cant be used during lightening and during thunders while dialing we need to keep the mobile slight away so that we wont get that much exposed to radiations..There are more drawbacks with mobiles.. which we dont have in telelphones..

Dear friend, the rise in mobile telephone users is mainly attributed to its convenience of use,low price and running cost, attractive design and multiple features with minimum cost.It is most likely to replace the land line fixed phones,in near future days, with many innovative features being added to it everyday.Besides, there are certain money earning schemes being offered to mobile users by some companies. If you are interested, you may send me a PM and add me in your friends list to know more about this earning scheme through mobile.thanks.

I suppose they wil at some time, but not so soon.
The public phone boxes are slowly dissappearing which is a sahme as in England it is a big part of our history, the red phone box.
Time always moves forward and I'm sure we shall only be using mobiles at some time. Scary really when you thing that with the orlds age the telephone is still quite a new thing
