I almost waited in the wrong line - for hours!

I almost felt totally stupid and am so glad I noticed my mistake before it was too late. While on vacation, we rented a car from California to Las Vegas, then from Las Vegas to Salt Lake, then again from Salt Lake to Las Vegas. I had made the reservations months in advance and really didn't pay too much attention to them. When I made the reservations I searched for the best price. We picked up our first car from Alamo in California at the airport and dropped it off in Las Vegas at the airport. A few days later, we're back at the airport getting another car to go to Salt Lake. I was trying to do it at the kiosk because the line to talk to a person was about a mile long. I kept putting in my reservation number and it was saying that there was nothing there for me. I swiped my credit card that I use - I only use one so I know it was the right one - and it kept saying it was invalid. I wanted to use the kiosk because the line was so long, but I realized there was something wrong with my reservation and I was going to have to wait in line... For some stupid reason, I looked down at my copy of my reservation again, I guess to check and see if I was putting the numbers in right or something, and I noticed that this car was being rented from Advantage, not Alamo! My husband laughed so hard at me! We went quickly to the Advantage desk - no one was in line there - and got our car right away. I'm so glad I didn't wait in that other line just to find out that I was in the wrong line! I made sure I checked my next reservation closely before trying to get that car. How many times have you waited in the wrong line for something?

Oh, I know that you were mad a little but not that much when you realize that you had the wrong company. I know you were going out of your mind with, I know I got it right. Well there is nothing wrong with making a little mistake like that. It's normal. At least you didn't have to wait in another line when you got to Advantage car rental. That is the good thing. So next time make sure that you look at the name of the company on the paper. When your on a trip I see that you have to have things in order. I don't travel like that but I see that things have to be in place before you get there. I see your a good planner. Have a good one.

I thought I was doing good by having all my confirmations in order so the next one would always be on top of my pile. I just forgot to look at what I was confirming that time :)

I still think that you did good. You had everything in order for the trip. Just the wrong car company other than that; your planning everything out ahead of time was good. Next time you will know exactly what to do and double check. Have a good one.

I am so glad you caught your mistake. I did stand in the wrong line once. When I got to the person at the window and was informed that I was in the wrong line I wanted to cry.. I then had to stand in another long line.

Oh that is horrible! I have been in the wrong line before because someone told me that was the right line. I was just a bit upset over that one. I am so glad that I caught my mistake before standing in the line to talk with someone!

Let me see now..... I don't think there is a number big enough for how many times I have waited in the wrong line! lol. I am in living in a non-English speaking country for the third time in a row so because of being unable to communicate very well in the local languages I have stood in the wrong line or misunderstood instructions more times than I care to remember!

Oh no, that would not be fun to have it happen all the time. At least you have an excuse, I was just not paying attention!

I know I've done my share of waiting in the wrong line. The last time I did it was when Boyfriend and I decided to go to the Museum. When we got there, we saw a long line snaked around the building. Boyfriend and I hurriedly took our places at the end of the line and just waited. At first, it was fun, just talking and waiting until it got to half an hour and we still haven't moved from where we were standing. Boyfriend and I then start noticing other people asking whether this is the line for such exhibit. I'm like "what exhibit?" I guess that day was the first day for some big-shot artist's exhibit and you have to pay like $30 extra to see it. And that line was for that exhibit. So I had Boyfriend go to the lobby of museum to check and he came back and just gently took my arm and we just walked into the lobby where we immediately paid for our entry and acted like we just got there.

Yeah, I've done that before too. While we were at a convention the other week, some of the workshops had very long lines. The first thing I did before standing in line was to ask the last person if it was the line for the class that I wanted.
