Anyone Work in the Funeral Industry? | | It's not as disgusting as some might think. Death is a natural part of life.
I work for a funeral home and I find it makes me feel good to be able to help people cope with their loss.
Do you find funerals or funeral homes something that you prefer not to discuss? Do you shy away from the topic? If so, why?

I asked what you do, because I am presently looking for work, and was wondering what kind of jobs are needed there. My father had a cousin who was a funeral director, and my husband's aunt owned a funeral home. My husband was at one time a pre need counselor. Just like you said, some people do not want to discuss it. They felt because they were in their 30's or 40's, they did not need to talk about it. No one would open their minds to see the sense that it made. I like helping people especially when they need comfort. You have a great day, and welcome to Mylot.

| Lemon_Bay (7) | 1 year ago | Although I have experience in nearly all facets of the industry, I am not licensed.
Previously I was involved in all aspects, but I now live in Florida and not being licensed limits the work that I am permitted to do.
I stand "visitations" or "viewings," I help with services, but mostly I am a "gopher," going to doctors with death certificates to be completed, taking remains for cremation, picking up remains after cremation, assisting at burials or entombments, etc.
You are correct. People in their 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s do not feel comfortable discussing the subject. But death is one thing that we cannot cast to the side. It can happen at any time.
Thank you kindly for your welcome to Mylot.

Back in my college days i have a classmates that works in the funeral and to tll the thruth he is an embalmer anyway he did not tell to anyone in our class untill i discover it when one of our neighbor died and he come to the house of my neigbour And I though also he is only adriver coz i see him in the drivers seat, but unfortunately i ask him what he doing here, and he replied I am the embalmer and im here to take the corps. Im shock but at thesame time i apreciate him becoz he did a very good job. Imagine a guy studying Civil Engineering but working to a funeral as an embalmer to support his study.
Then After a couples of days I ask him why did you not tell us that you work for a funeral He said, Im ashame of my job.. Then I replied. Why you ashame! Dont you know that you have a good job only few people can work for that kind of profession and you have good intention to finish study... So dont be ashame what ever you do as long as its legal there no way to be ashame I said... and after that i tell to all of our classmates what he is proffesion and all of my classmates are welcoming him and accepting him
The reason i tell this story i just wanted to show that thers no point to be ashame as long you doing legal..
