The teachers are always respected for their valuable contibution to the reconstruction and progress of a nation,in many ways.In earlier days,we used to call teachers " Guru " who guide and enlighten the society with the power of their knowledge and blessing.To-day,teacher's day is being celebrated across the whole of India,as a tribute to Dr Sarvpapalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India and the greatest scholar of all times. His birth day is observed as the teacher's day in India.Do you observe teacher's day in your country?

even i am from india too and i really remember when i was in my schooling we use to celebrate teachers day and it was really nice, we all use to take flowers to our teachers and the whole day we use to have programmes and t was really interesting.
and i think its worth it and teachers should be really rewarded as they really teach us not only give us education but also make us disciplined and give us support to gain and achieve in life and teachers really deserve more than this.
its a good and great work what they do having patience towards their students, teaching us, is simply not so easy.
even i believe that teachers are next to god and our parents.
teachers and our parents both contribute us to knowledge and educate us and both of them have to be respected well.

teachers day is just a way to convey our thanks and respect to our teachers for their efforts i believe.

PHILIPPINES- yes we do celebrate teachers' day! But this is commonly for elementary and high school levels, not anymore for the college level. We usually give teachers a long red rose and sing to them the song "Thank you." The gifts and song changes, but these two are the generic ones.
