Today when i was sitting in front of the pc, i let my baby play outside his playpen and he likes crawling and picking things around him and put it straight to the mouth. I noticed that he was so very quite and when i turned back, oh ghost! he has a piece of charcoal in his mouth, i didn't notice that he went to the fireplace and got the piece of coal. So then i told it to my husband and he said that's alright, what do you think? Does the charcoal will make him sick? Do i need to go to the doctor for his check up or need to give him medicine for something? Geezz im worried!Happy myloting, cheers!

Well, normally people take charcoal pills to ease their digestion, so if it's the same kind of charcoal then I shouldn't think you need to worry. However, I don't know whether the charcoal found in fire places perhaps contains any other ingredients or chemicals which might be harmful. Does your baby seem well? If you're worried, or maybe just to put your mind at rest you could phone NHS Direct, on 0845 46 47. It's been 3 hours now since you posted this discussion, so hopefully everything's fine, but if they think that you should go to casualty to get him checked out then they'll let you know. Or they'll tell you not to worry. I've used this service several times with my daughter and it's been really useful (especially for me as a first-time mum!)

I had observed him last day and yesterday, and he is fine, he never cried or there's something pain in his belly, everythings is normal. and i was so thankful of it. I save the NHS number so that next time, what emergencies happen i have a number to be called coz i just moved in here. thanks alot.
