Bless this house. Oh Lord we cry.
Keep it cool please, in mid- July!
Bless the walls where termites dine,
While ants and roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass
Fire ants in the Grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please
Carpenter bees, ticks, and fleas.
Bless the love bugs, two by two,
the gnats and skeeters that feed on you!
Millions of critters that fly or crawl,
In Florida Lord, you've put them all!
But this is home, and here I'll stay,
so thank-you Lord for creating bug spray!!!!

Thats because bugs blow off of islands. I have lived on islands too. They are great just for that reason. When you get into the south there are millions of breeding possibilities and no way to get rid of the little darlings. They are there for life. It never gets cold enough to really kill them off so you learn crafty ways to outwitt them. I'm good at it. Except for noseeums. They are a biting gnat that seem to be very prolific here. They love me too. I must be tasty.lol Skeeters don't like me but these gnats do.
Do you really write music? I did for years. I was on the top 10 for awhile on the west coast years ago.

My brother was stationed at Barbers Point Hawaii and arranged for me to fly from my duty station in Spain to cut a little vinyl back in the 70s. We stayed on the top 10 for a year with a few songs that we recorded during those sessions. I wrote lyrics and some music and my brother wrote music and I sang and we both played various instruments. We were a good team for awhile when we could get together at opposite ends of the world.lol

I loved it! I live in Florida and hate the bugs, but love the state and the weather usually. I live near Ocala but lived in Fort Lauderdale for more than 15 years. I'm not sure which is worse. I feel like in the summer there are way more bugs up here but in winter they aren't as bad. What's a gal to do?

Its pretty hot where you are in the summer and it gets veery cold in the winter doesn't it. Ocala is an enigma. That and Hammock Fla. It can get very cold there too. So does Pierson sometimes even though it is the fern capital of the world. They just cover the ferns with water and they never get below 32 degrees no matter how cold it gets. Fl can really be fluky. But we have bugs every where. It is our one constant!!!!
