I remember this beautiful lines of a brilliant song rendered by one of the greatest singers of America : I think as I please and this gives me pleasure.
This one tells us the strength of individualism and love for one's independent thinking. This is also embroidered with golden thread of self-respect and self-confidence. These are the qualities human beings have achieved and aspired to achieve through the courses of our known historical time. Enormous love we do receive from the mother nature and it appears that she is always ready to co-operate with her ablest children always or at least generally. Still the differences we create within ourselves and the divisions we do build up among us are such shameless and inconsiderate and damaging that one is always stunned at the specter of its results, that is, devastations.
If we like to observe what is the intention of the rulers of any country and of any time it will be very clear that none of them are naturally ready to offer any space to the people whom they rule with or without their consent. They allow one to think and act anything so long that thought and that action do not go against the status co of his environment. Actually a ruler has the habit of taking it granted that he holds supremacy over anybody in any field of thought or action and this is simply far from the truth. A ruler is sometimes a great soldier and has mastery in the job battle and war. He is sometimes a good statesman and a diplomat and a manager who as a worthy leader has the capacity to penetrate the most complex problems of the society and to find out a widely accepted solution to the same. He may be a poet or an artist and a singer or instrumentalist may he be. But the fundamental disadvantage in his position is that he claims or attempts to claim all the feathers in his crown only when the human civilization in its basic and landmarking progress has no obligation to any ruler or administration or a king or a politician of the modern times.
In this context we have to consider the status of a thinker in a society. It is the experience of a student of history that movers of the courses of any civilization are generally very ordinary men or women who have not claimed for the role played in life and noticeably nor have they been rewarded any patent or even due recognition for the job done. It is almost like the silent boy in a research team who finds the light by intuition or toiling and the honor of the success is placed on the chief of the company in which he is a very ordinary thinker or doer. Again, the rulers of any form or character are always frightened by the works of the thinkers as the thinkers because of their ability to think and therefore to view the things close and far and because of their ability to solve many a problems of the time are always the virtual contestants. Think for a while. Whom do people accept more - a Shakespeare or an Elizabeth ?
Hence I like to belong to the limited species who love to think and who acknowledge the greatness of one who is a thinker even if he is nothing more than that.
