MyLot Evidence for The End of Civilization as We Know It  | |  The world's population continues to increase, governments still spend billions of dollars on armaments whilst millions starve, the Russians occupy Georgia, Animals species are threatened with extinction, the rainforests are still being destroyed, hedge fund managers make millions in a week whilst other work hours of overtime just to eat and pay the rent, the oil is running out or the Arabs are hiding it, global warming is upon us and governments do nothing to address it...
...and yet, all I see on MyLot is dumb discussion after dumb discussion such as:
What do you like on your pizza? - Who cares!
What's your favourite colour? - Doh!
What do you do if you are eating too much? - Doh!!
Do you prefer beer or vodka at a bar? - Doh!! Doh!! Doh!!!
How often do you wash the covers of your mattresses? - For Christ's sake! Who cares!! Doh!
Do you hang your clothes out to dry? - Doh! Give me a break!
- Like is my answer going to change your life???
Are all these dumb discussions more evidence of our increasingly dumbed down world? Is this yet more evidence that we are approaching the end of civilization?

| | | | | | 1.  sabbatha (240) | 3 months ago |  I don't see it as a dumbing down of our world. I see as two things. One some people are trying to start discussions that people will answer so they can get more post and maybe a bit more money.
Second it seems the few I saw like that are sometimes written in broken English. Not a sign of stupidity at all, but a sign that English is not the first language of many of the people on mylot. If they tried to start a more serious topic they may have trouble getting their message across in English, while in their native tounge they may be able to write discussions soo deep it will make your head swim. You never know, which is why I don't judge any of the discussions on here as stupidity.

There are people who will start discussions on anything in order to get a few cents - but this is a bit dumb in a way because if they actually started an interesting stimulating topic they might make more.
I understand there are many people who do not have the full command of English, but first of all you can still start an interesting discussion. In fact when speaking in a foreign language I find it easier to discuss something scientific or political. Also most of the dumb discussions are started by people in English speaking countries. So I'm not having a go at non-English native speakers.

What do you expect?
The only thing people have been watching on television for the past 6 years... are reality shows... which are not real at all. lol
We have a third of the population who don't believe in global warming. They believe that it is a natural phenomena... and that nature will fix it. And it will... but not in the way they imagine.
Another third don't want to hear about it... and don't want to know about it... because it is not convenient... and it cost too much money to fix the problem.
And the last third faithfully believe that GOD will fix it.
But the real cause for everything you mention is the constant grow of population. And rather than curb it... most governments encourage it. There was an article this week... saying that the population of Australia will double by 2056.
Just a year ago... Australia was almost out of water. If we double our population... Australia will turn into a desert and the population will die of thirst... not to mention the wildlife... the agriculture and our cattle and sheep.
But the big companies of all sort encourage population grow... because the more people... the more goods they can sell... and the more profit they can make. Stuff the planet. Greed is good... that is what capitalism is all about. But only one per cent of the population really profit from it. For the other 99 per cent... life is an everyday struggle.
