running lol. Ummmm probably leg lifts, crunches, and no power lifting. You would want to work on your stamina and not on getting your muscles huge. You want to be lean and swift.

our coach has us do weighted squats, leg lifts, as well as, work with lighter dumb bells. Such as lunges, dumbbell flies, one armed drop. and of course running is very important. we usually do weight training twice a week. on these days we are weight traing for half of practice and they other half we do speed workouts.

Slow reps on the tred mill. Like Running for 10 minutes straight the first day, than up it every time your do it. You should be able to go for 45 min. in about a week and a half. Cross Country drills like this will get you into shape quickly, and before you work out you should eat a beagel or something like that to give you energy and atleast 32oz of water. Ciao!

I agree with the first respondent, you basically want to do light weight training for your legs, but with high repetitions. You are training for stamina so you don't want to get bulked up. But, you do want to train to get stronger. I've found that squats with weights are excellent for exercising the legs. I'm a cyclist and we like to use the leg press machine in the gym to help our legs, so I think it might help runners, too.
