Did anyone watch the MTV VMA's?

The 2008 VMA's were on this past sunday.
I only got to see Rihanna's opening act, and I wasn't very impressed. xD
The back-up dancers were doing a hell of a job, and she was just kind of lifeless and lip sync-y.
I didn't really like the stage or the way the venue was layed out, either. xD
Some of my friends said this year's VMA's were really tacky and a lot of the winners didn't really seem deserving.
If you watched, what did you think?
Maybe I didn't like because I'm getting old. xD
I'm 18, but it seems like the most avid MTV watchers these days are 12-15 year olds.

I watched the whole show and really didn't enjoy it. For one, I didn't find Russell Brand funny at all. Who is he to tell anyone in the US whom to vote for? There is no place for politics on those shows. I really thought he brought the show down. Rhianna sounded awful, Christina lip synced badly. I did kind of like seeing Britney win the moon men (though s he really didn't deserve them) because she is struggling hard to regain her rep and is doing so well under her father's care.
The rest of the acts were just OK. For some reason, it just didn't feel like a special show and the sound was off pretty much all the way through. Lots of production errors too. Demi Moore didn't have a mic, Paris looked into the wrong camera, someone tripped down the stairs, the cameras missed important shots. I could see the crew and cameramen running around. It wasn't polished.
I was disappointed in the show. Blah.
