do you always get what you want, when you want it?

i don't. but i'm not unhappy about it. it teaches me to wait patiently for the right time and to work hard for something that i want. being the first born always put me on the last priority when being given things inside the family. but that's okay too. i mean i love my sisters, and if they are happy, then i am happy too

I grew on an average type of family, not rich but not that really poor. My grandmother who raise me taught me how to make things and how to do business. she would bug me to sell things, sometimes I got embarrassed selling but as I grow older I learn to like it. With my experience in selling I have to admit that through that I usually get what I want as a kid. like money and food (that is the only thing that matters to me then, I need money so I can buy food
). Oh well as I grow more, there are things that I can't have but still want it, that is how I learned to accept. To accept that there are really that you just can't have (like a date with Rico Blanco, where in my high school life, the only thing that keeps me going). Lastly, as I mature and my wants in life changes from food to real food (as in men
) I learned to be patient, that there are things that you cannot have now, there will be right time for it. But now I am cooking another want, but this time I really have to save for it ( we might be spending Christmas there!) because I am shouldering the cost hu hu, but I want my family to enjoy and be happy. So this want of mine not just for me but for my family as well.
On the lighter side, I always get what I want because I am a brat and I love dominating people. ha ha

LOL being the adopted one and the youngest i was always put last on the list and more often than not NEVER got what I wanted (and in some cases what I needed too)...Do i get what I want when I want it now..no of course not and as much as its annoying sometimes, its fine for me....I think that always being catered to makes a person a spoiled and ungrateful one ya know...plus I like to work for what I want, it makes it all the more worth it IMO

I rarely get what I want when I want it. I work very hard and sometimes, I eventually will get something I really want. Small things, I do indulge myself with but things that cost a little more, I simply don't get even if I can afford them because I have two sons whom I would rather help out and take care of. (They are 22 and nearly 18.)
I like working for what I want and setting a goal. When I reach that goal, I get the thing I want. It's a great motivator.
We were poor when I was young and I never got what I wanted. I spent many years sad that I didn't have what other kids had. Now, I realize that things aren't as important as love of my family and animals and helping people who need it. I still love things, don't get me wrong, but I'm willing to wait until I feel I am able to get something without guilt. There are some things I will never ever have that I really want. But that just makes the things I do get even sweeter.

now there's one inspirational story, patty
. thanks for sharing it. and yes, i do agree with you that not getting everything we want makes things that we DO get much more valuable to us. not all of us are born with silver spoons in their mouths, like you, i have to work hard to get things i want in my life, and having a daughter already makes me strive more to give her a better life than the one i had

Yes i have always got what i wanted BUT not when i wanted it!! When i was young my parents gave me everything that i needed but not that i opened my mouth and i got it. Mom says that there is a time for everything and you will get things when you are entitled for it. When i wa working i always used to get what i wanted though!

well, that's good to hear. at least somebody here gets to have things that she wants (even if, as you said, you do not get it instantly. i mean, at least you get it
). i agree with your mom. there is a time for everything
