Is that bad business or what?

For hurricane Gustav - or any outage for that matter - we have to call and get a credit from out Cable company. I could understand if I was the only customer out. However, ALL customers in our area were out. Some people still don't have service (10 days with no phone, cable ot internet). I am grateful we have any service. Last time we had a big storm our phone was out for almost a week and they kept promising a tech and no one would show. Every time that happened I got a credit. I had so many credits from the my bill was only $11! The other cable company that services a nearby area had a TV commercial stating that they are automatically crediting everyone that has their service. I miss my old cable company. How is your cable company? If there was a statewide outage for day, would you have to request a credit or would it automatically be granted?

I am not positive but I do not believe they credited us automatically the last time we had a major hurricane. In fact I am not sure if they credited us at all. I have brighthouse now. I think I had directv then. Directv goes out every time the wind blows so if I got credit everytime it went out I would never have a bill.

I got fed up real easily with Direct TV. Just like you a slight wind would make it go out. IT'S NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION.

People around here are praising DirectTV as they are better customer service wise, but as much as we get wind and rain - when you really need to watch the TV- I may as no have TV at all.

I have no idea, because we are not in an area where there would be a staewide outage like that.. but knowing our cable company, probably not..

To me, this is really sad, the power company - that had almost a statewide outage - is even crediting people. You know they are the hardest to get any credits from. I am going to call the cable company to get my credit. Will save me $15!

Hey do you have COX? Cox is giving 4 day credits automatically for the month of October (new bill going out). They said if it was longer than 4 days they would credit for that also. The thing that gets me is the utilities aren't helping out. They want their money and if it was due (like mine was)when you had to leave, that doesn't matter and you are late. Isn't that bad business also? I had a tech come out because my box isn't working properly. I told him it worked just fine before the storm. He said it isn't the box and my house needs to be rewired. lol He said I'd get a call to reschedule an apt to come out and do it. I AM STILL WAITING for that call! Thank God I can watch TV, but I am tired of not knowing what is one and not being able to tape, pause or record. Good Luck in getting your credit

Nope, we have charter on the northshore - well most of the northshore. I think slidell has cox. As far as you needing that re-wiring CALL THEM. My brother works for cox and had a horrible time getting a tech to run wires.
