I hate it when someone else asks me to take care of the cooking because i manage to get the food burnt most of the times. I am usually absorbed with what i am doing on the computer that I completely forget about cooking. Does this happen to you? Are there any suggestions how to prevent this thing from happening again?

No, I've actually done a pretty good job so far in my "cooking career" never to have burned anything significant. I did burn popcorn once, but it was an incredibly strong microwave and I just put the popcorn in for longer than 3 minutes by mistake...
Hahaha... I am very careful; in fact, I think sometimes I might undercook things and then gradually work up to being perfect, just because I am so nervous about burning something.

I did burn beans at one time and thats a mess. Someone had called me and I forgot about my beans untill I started to smell something burning. I had to toss them all away the beans were so burnt and stuck on the bottom of the kettle I even had to throw out my kettle.

I have burnt a few dishes in my time. Its really easy to get involved in other things around the house, especially when the kids are running around and they need you for something, or theres a great show tv, or if you are doing something on the computer. If you find a way to prevent the burning of the dishes, let me know. LOL.

I have personally never been able to cook, and that is why I never try to cook because I know I will burn whatever I am cooking, and I remember one time me and my cousin were trying to bake a cake for my mom, because my cousin talked me into it,and we about burned the trailer down,so since them I let someone else do the cooking even though I can cook things in the microwave, and I can cook frozen pizzas in the oven.

I do burn rice more often than not. It's good my husband is alert enough to turn off the stove before the rice becomes black. Ha!ha!ha! I am not contented with one task, I always do some other things apart from cooking rice so the result is always a burnt rice. Now I found a good way not to forget. I always tie something on my wrist so that I will remember always that I am cooking. That way even if doing something else, I don't totally forget that I'm cooking and therefore I don't forget to check it every now and then.

well, to tell you the truth,
sometimes i burn that... being a boy...its my pleasure to burn that..
;)
to prevent this, the simplest thing is, devote your time to cooking, when you have placed something on gas... [though its too difficult]
[i hope people dont love to stand in front of onions dipped in oil.. and keep looking at that when their gas is on minimum...]
