My Neighbour's Dog Won't Stop Barking!  |

|  Hi all, maybe somebody here can help me. I moved into my new house five weeks ago and met my new neighbours who introduced me to their dog. He is a St Bernard puppy and is absolutely gorgeous. In the beginning he yelped quite a bit which didn't bother me but in the last four to five weeks, he has grown a lot and his bark has grown with him. He starts barking at 5.30am in the morning and continues until about 11pm...sometimes even longer. There is obviously some activity going on during the day at which he is barking but for the past couple of days I have had a dreadful headache from it. I was going to get something like a 'Bark Buster' to see if it would stop him. Has anybody ever used one of these and if so, has it worked?

| | Thank you chichong but the dog is not in a cage or tied up. It is running around my neighbours garden and I can't move it or do anything to it. Also, it is against the law here to let dogs roam about. They must be kept under control at all times. Thanks for trying to help and I really appreciate it. | |  You may want to check your city's noise statute because where I live it's against the law for a dog to bark excessively after 10:30. If you are friendly with the neighbors you may want to kindly make them aware of such a statute or if they're not the friendliest people in the world you can always call the authorities. This may be a little extreme but there is absolutely no reason a dog should be barking at 11 at night or later, it shows a lack of consideration for the neighbors. If you dont want to go to such extreme measure you may just want to confront them and alert them of your situation and concerns.

| | I didn't really want to approach my neighbours as we have all just moved into our houses. I would prefer if one of the other neighbours would approach them as I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. In the meantime I will check out the internet to see if I can get an outdoor Bark Deterrent or something. However, if if keeps up, I think I will just have to let them know that the barking is getting to be a nuisance. Thanks for your help arewayne. | | | |

| | I can see how it would be intimidating talking to a new neighbor about an issue like this but if you approach them in a nice way, no matter what response you get out of them I'm sure they won't be offended and it may be a nice way to show them that you want to coexist peacefully as neighbors and could lay the foundation for whatever degree of relationship you hope to have with them. | | | |

I have just moved out of a semi-detached house because of noisy neighbours (it's a long story) and I lost thousands of euros in the process. Therefore, I don't mind paying a hundred or more euros for a bark buster. It emits a shrill that only the dog can hear every time it barks. I am sure the barking will eventually annoy some of the other neighbours or keep their children awake at night so I will leave it up to them to complain. | | | |

| | No, he is not caged zykon84. I am able to see him running up and down the garden and it is quite a large garden so he has lots of space. He has quietened down now so hopefully he won't bark for the night and I can get some sleep. | | | |

| |  If I were you I would talk with my neighbours in a civilised manner. A dog barking at normal hours is one think but at 5.30am is really annoying. If the dog is let free to roam maybe he barks at an intruder or gets excited if he see a wild rabbit passing by. The dog should be trained to bark only at strangers.
