A person's name... Does it really have a meaning?

Actually, I am referring to someone's name. It can be yours or mine. Did you ever think the name that was given to you by your parents has a significant meaning? How would you react if you have just found out that the meaning of your name isn't likeable? Here's a couple of lists and their meanings: GARY - SPEAR CARRIER JOY - JOY MARCUS - WARLIKE KATE - PURE TERESA - SUMMER GEORGE - A TILLER OF THE SOIL ANDY - MANLY DENISE - FOLLOWER OF DIONYSUS (THE GOD OF WINE) WILMA - WILL HELMET What is your name?

It wouldn't bother me if I was to find out my name had some weird meaning as it doesn't really mean anything to me . I picked my children's names because I liked them and to name them after someone who was important to us . I never looked up any of the meanings when I chose the name . My husband and I agreed that the first name would be something we both liked the second and third name would each be one of our choice and one of those names would be named after someone we cared a lot about to name our child after them .
