My favorite books are the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. These two books are fountains of incessant pleasure for me. These are epics and have been written in the ancient India and are indicator of the roots of Indian culture. These epics are great and the characters dealt in them are greater. The bards of the Indian epics, Valmiki and Vedavyasa by name, remind us how developed we have been in the ancient days too. On reading these epics my heart becomes as large as the sky and it seems to me that I can excuse anyone even if I have been sinned more against than sinning.

I prefer Mahabharat over Ramayan. Ramayan was a picture perfect story of a perfect son , perfect king Ram. He had more godliness in him. Even the villain Ravan didnt touch Sita against her wish. He wanted to marry her and made attempts to make her agree rather than forcibly marry her Mahabharat truly depicts current society , all stratas of society. Its full with tales of good deeds, bad deeds , conspiracies, valour , dignity, humility. Its a complete eye opener
