Me and my fiance have recently finished reading the first book in a collection of four books, the book is called The Emigrants by Vilhelm Moberg and it is about a group of sixteen Swedish emigrants who get tired of their hardships and life in the old country and decide to embark on a journey across the ocean to the new world of The North American Republic, the book was divided into two parts, the first part was about their life and them deciding to take the voyage, and the second part of "The Emigrants" was about them being at sea on the ship Charlotta, which is a small ship with only a little room, and is not very healthy and the Captain is a man who does not like being on land,as they made the long and and treacherous journey to find homes on a new continent, the book ended with the ship arriving at the Harbor of New York where it tied to the pier The second book which is entitled "Upon A Good Land" starts out with them on the ship, after three days the emigrants were able to leave the ship and they hire a Swedish guide to translate the American language for them, and the group of sixteen who loses a member at sea,end up gaining an elderly woman who is going to see her son,and they are on their way to Minnesota, but to get their they have to take a steamer from the Harbor up the Hudson to Albany, which has a little bit more room but the emigrants are still tightly packed together but they at least have air to breath, and then they have to take a steam wagon from Albany to Buffalo, which they all fear because of the fire and smoke, and again they are crammed together, and the doors of the cars stay locked to keep anyone from falling out,and then from Buffalo they have to take another steamer from Buffalo to Chicago, and they had just gotten on the steamer which has a lower deck for poor people, and the upper deck for richer people, when we stopped reading, these books are very interesting, and I can not wait until my fiance reads me more from Upon A Good Land and we have also recently ordered the third book which is called The Settlers and hopefully it will get here soon,so now the questions Has anyone finished reading a book that had other books to go with it?What were the books about? How long have you been reading the book?Did it make you want to buy the next book in the series?I will appreciate anyone who takes the time to respond to this discussion, and I will also appreciate anyone who approaches this discussion with complete seriousness, and give me straight and honest answers, and I promise as a fellow mylotter,I will comment back on all responses I get,but my comments will only be as good as the responses I get, have a great day.

I do not think that I have read a book that had a series and finished it. In fact I think the only book I read in a series is my Dan Brown and are books that rather make me shudder when I think about them. I know that the Emigrant series is really making me salivate for more and I know we are both anticipating the arrival of the new book entitled "The Settlers". I also think you've done a great job describing the book, I can't wait to see what happens next, good or bad in this story, although I hope that the characters I have an eye on will fair well!

That is cool baby that you do not think you have read a book that had a series and finished, and yes I know we are both very much anticipating the arrival of the third book The Settlers, and I am glad you liked the way I described the book, and maybe if anyone else reads my discussion they will check out the series,I can not wait either to see what happens in the story, and I also hope that the main characters fair well especially Karl Oscar and his family,I love you with all my heart and soul, thanks for responding, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting.

I'm not into fantasy genre but Boyfriend started reading the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire Series by George R.R. Martin. He got me into it and we both finished reading the fourth book of the series a couple years ago and we're still waiting for the next one to be published. I guess I have to reread the books again when the new one comes out because I've forgotten what happened to a lot of the main characters. But that will take a lot of time since each book I believe is about 1000 pages (more or less).

I can understand that you are not into the fantasy genre, and that is cool that your boyfriend started reading the first book of a A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R Martin, and that is cool that you both finished reading the fourth book of the series, and are waiting for the next one to be published, and that sucks that each book is about one thousand pages, but hopefully you will have fun rereading them to find out what happened to the main characters, thanks for responding, have a great day ,good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend.
