I live in kentucky and we had the winds from the huricane going through and I was without power for a night and a half and I was thinking we take it for granted and then we had water but it makes me think that I am going to start making me a kit with candles and bottled water and also can goods that you don't have to cook but it makes sense I hope nobody goes through that so enjoy power while you can.

Yes i think we use way more electricity than we should. I always go around the house and shut lights off after everyone. I had my AC on only two times this summer and it has been hot. I like to conserve the electricity. But i'm not great at conserving water. I leave it run when i'm not using it at that moment but know i need it shortly. I'm really trying to remember to turn it off though. I am trying to keep my utility bills down low this year that is part of my life changing plan since i'm turning 32 in a few days it's time to make some changes.

I would say, yes we do. When I lived on the Navajo Reservation, the water and power would do out, sometimes for no reason what so ever. So we would keep bottled water, flash lights, extra batteries, candles, matches just in case. We were lucky to have a wood stove in our living room for heat in the winter and to cook on if there was no power. Now that I live back in the city, the power has only gone out once and it was kind of strange. Something I didn't really expect. But it came back on a few minutes later.

I felt guilty during this wind storm. It seemed that everyone was out of power here in Cincinnati except us. Our lights flickered once, that was it. My sister, who works at Duke ironically, her lights were out. So were my uncle's in Walnut Hills and all of my friends that live nearby. We became the family shelter for a little while, with a remote location at my mom's, who also still had power.
