Hewlett-Packard is cutting 24,600 jobs  email this discussion to a friend?

In the news it was announced that Hewlett-Packard is cutting 24,600 jobs, or 7.5 percent of its work force, over the next three years. This is being done to integrate the operations of newly acquired computer services company EDS into HP.

Most of the workers might have financial commitments! Is it fair on the workers to get fired without any warnings?

of course unfair.
bosses are after all bosses. sometimes no special reasons and you have to get sacked. what we could do to protect ourselves is do not put all our eggs in one basket just like we do with the money investment. learn more new skills in daily life for a rainy days.

I know it is bad news for all the HP workers but it just might be good news for my son who works for HP here in Ireland. He has already made plans for both himself and his wife (who also works for HP) to emigrate to the USA. They have always been saying that HP in Ireland could close down any day. Now however, if they both hold out for another while, they both might get redundancy and so have an extra bit of cash in their pockets when they are leaving. I know this won't solve the problem for the other 24600 people and especially at a time when the recession is hitting everybody. I just don't know where it will all end or how people are going to manage. Lets just hope it will never happen.

Every news bulletin brings yet more gloom as the recession looms nearer, and the economy declines.I watched the news yesterday and couldnt believe what I was seeing, one of Americas largest banks ,Lehmans, gone bust!well the workers must have been gutted, the investors must be distraught, and how does all of this happen so quickly.Imagine if you have you entire life savings tied up in Lehmans bank, and now you have nothing, what a shock!but the faces at the stock exchange told the story, all of the banks ending up 10 percent down on their share prices for the day,the brokers looked shell shocked. Now there is some talk of barclays buying Lehmans ,whether there is any truth in this or not who knows. But Martyn Lewis was saying this morning that if you have subsantial savings then dont put all of your eggs in one basket, put no more than thirty two thousand pounds in any one bank, taking into account that some banks are merged,as that is the maximum amount that will be covered should the bank go into liquidation. But it is all starting to bite now,the slow down in the housing market, the knock on effect, the major house buildres are reporting hard slow downs in their house sales, the builders are runnin gout of work,we kniow a roofer who is now struggling to find fresh work, the knock on effect is dramatic.Let us keep everything crossed that the bite wont get to too much deeper.

With the way the economy is now, nothing surprises me any more the way people are loseing their jobs, and their homes, it looks like every thing is falling apart, it's getting hard to find a job, I have put in to work at the public schools here in my city and they said, they have fewer student going to school this year, that is because, the parents are not sending their kids to school, I make my son go to school.angry
