I am a proud indian to say my country has many languages which is regional based and we have a common language HINDI- National language. And I too lived and learned some other regional languages say kannada, tamil, malayalam and marathi when i lived in these places. I am proud of saying my country hs more languages compared to others and its great that still people are managing to learn more local languages. I could say atleast we have more than 15 regional languages.

Hey rkrish Like you I am also Indian. Really India is a great country with somany culture, different food habits, different dialects but still we remain united, this is the greatness of our country. Whole world gives example of India where so many dialects are talking. I know atleast four Indian languages i.e. first as I am bengali I speak bengali, then hindi, english and oriya as presently I am residing in Orissa. I am trying to learn few more languages. I am proud of my country and I salute my country. pkc3000

I'm proud to be an Indian too with so many languages. But lets be practical. This does pose a problem at times. Divisions set in. What with the number of languages, religions, etc. Like right now, in the name of religions, infighting is going on. I do with it would stop 'Live and let live' should be the motto.

Interestingly I remember reading something about countries with multiple dialects not so long ago! What surprised me is that one of the countries with a very high number of dialects is Papua New Guinea! For such a small country with a relatively small population they apparently have hundreds of different tribal languages! They are mainly based on the same core language of pidgin apparently but still vary throughout the region..... I worked with people in India that spoke Gujurati, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Punjabi, Parsi and Hindi!

Hey, that's great that you know these many languages. I just started kannada, i know malayalam, hindi and of course english . As is the case with you, am proud of India, having a unity in diversity That is the biggest virtue of India as a country according to me. Yes we can proud of it because we are Indians. In India you can see unity in diversity. We have 28 states and 7 union territories. Most of the states have its own language to speak and they all have a common language. That is the beauty of India. Be proud of India. Thanks and good luck.
