I am tired of taking the pill!

I have been taking the pill for almost 20 years! I am so tired of having to remember to take it every night. I often forget and end up taking 2 the next day. I guess after so long, it doesn't matter.
I want to try something different. The girls at work swear by Mirena. I did some research. I am not a candidate for it because I haven't had a baby.
My main reason for starting the pill so long ago was getting my period way too often, like every 2 1/2 weeks.
Legitimate ideas and options and opinions will be appreciated. What other options are there and what are their side effects?

I'm too tired of pills but it's only a year or so ^^" I feel more like it than having a baby! Recently doctor told me about taking other methods (I have NO idea how it is called in english, it looks like giant rubber band and it's changed every 3 weeks by yourself so you don't have to remeber everyday...) because if you smoke pills could give you heart attack (I don't smoke, but maybe you do?). Id you don't it could happen too since blood pressure is way lower...
I'll switch from pills right after I graduate to university and have more time to think about it ^^"

Well I personally feel..birth control pills are not really good.Prevention is better than cure. I recently heard my neighbour with this problem and the reason was birth pills.

20 yrs?that long
.i think if we get used to it we never ever forget.i stop my pills too when i was bleeding,usualy monthly periods only 3 days or 4 but in my case was almost 2 weeks bleeding so my Dr.said its the weather.my body cant adjust the temperature so now i am not using pills anymore but lots of possition you dont get pregnant.
